Another Personal Note

Last one for awhile, I promise.

Thank you to all the faithful DR readers who have prayed for my health situation over these past two weeks, and special thanks to those of you who emailed to express your support. The lung surgery went better than expected; the 24 hours after the debriding (scraping the scarring) of the right lung were extremely painful, but the subsequent days of recovery were very encouraging.

The final decisive diagnosis, based on a biopsy of lung tissue, confirms the tentative diagnosis ventured by my doctors during last December's hospital stay: Chronic Eosinophilic Pneumonitis. While I am now predisoposed to recurrences of this disease, the treatment is quite simple, even if riven with side effects. Another benefit of the treatment is that the body never develops a resistance to the medication used to treat this pneumonitis.

It goes without saying that the Lord has taught me much in the last little while, most notably the peace and rest of soul one can enjoy during times of suffering, when hope has been placed firmly in the God of all comfort.

On the reading side, I managed to get through half of two books while in the hospital, for which reviews are coming soon: CrossTalk by Michael Emlet and After God's Own Heart by Greg Shepherd. Procure the first one without delay. Buy the second if you like, but there's a certain book you must read as a precursor to it. More on that next week...

Again, thank you for the prayers. Our God hears, and our God is faithful and loving.
