We regret to inform you that today's usual book review bulletin will not be published until tomorrow, Wednesday. In its stead, the (remaining) Discerning Reader editing team and reviewing staff are asking you to please consider observing a moment of silence and prayer to remember our Founding Editor, Tim Challies.
Earlier this morning, a rumble was heard emanating from Challies' workroom in his Oakville, ON residence. Family converged on the scene to discover a mound of books numbering in the thousands, and no sign of Challies himself. Emergency crews have been called in, including the entire cohort of librarians from the Toronto Public Library system, to cull through the massive collection in the hopes of finding Challies alive. One theory advanced this morning by sources close to Challies suggests that the strain of finding fresh blog material was weighing on him so heavily that he toppled his book stacks in a bout of temporary literary insanity.
Alert Challies Dot Com readers will note that comments bearing the hallmark dry humour of Tim Challies continue to propagate in the current post's comment thread, but these can be easily attributed to Challies' technological wizardry and prophetic abilities. Investigators have their work cut out for them as they attempt to navigate the murkiest blog archives known to man, in order to attempt to piece together the events leading up to the great book stack collapse in the Challies basement.
Please watch this space for further late-breaking news and the next Discerning Reader update.
