Tuesdays Are for Reviews

As you know by now, Tuesdays are review days here at Discerning Reader. This week we've posted four new ones.

First off we have Leslie Wiggins' review of Shopping for Time, the brand new book by Carolyn Mahaney and her daughters. "The Mahaney women invite you to pull a chair up to Carolyn’s kitchen table for their weekly Q & A. The Feta cheese and French fries will be flying as will some valuable wisdom and encouragement for whatever season of life you find yourself in today." Leslie also conducted a brief interview with the authors that you'll want to read as well.

From Scott Lamb is a review of Andrew Keen's The Cult of the Amateur, a fascinating book in which Keen describes some of the ways that the Web 2.0 phenomenon is destroying our culture. He may overstate his argument a little bit, but he still provides a lot of important food for thought. Scott says "The interactive nature of Web 2.0 makes it possible to have both great conversations and gross carnality. At the end of the day, Christians must take individual responsibility to make sure they are adding to the former and avoiding the latter."

And from Tim Challies come reviews of Michael Behe's The Edge of Evolution and Joan Konner's The Atheist's Bible, both of which attack the Bible in different ways (but one of which makes our list of recommend reading).

Next week we'll have that review of Letter from a Christian Citizen we promised last week. We'll also have, among others, a review of a book for Baptists and a book for those who love history. Stay tuned.
